Market Research 2007
Eight out of 10 organisations claim that testing is an essential investment, with a similar proportion recognising that independence of testing is fundamental. Yet separate budgets are not being set, the proper automation tools are not being used consistently and training is often rudimentary. As a result, there are too many instances where significant costs have been incurred once a system goes live.
These are the conclusions of an independent research report commissioned by SQS, the largest independent software testing and quality management consultancy in Europe. The research covered 250 interviews with IT development and project directors in England, Ireland and South Africa.
The results show widespread acceptance that testing plays a crucial role in the development lifecycle, but there is a lack of genuine commitment to testing - especially when it comes to significant investment.
The full results are published in an SQS white paper entitled “All Talk? Comparing attitudes and action in software testing.”
